LGBTQ+ Folk Exchange at Compton Verney

Join us for a visit to Compton Verney, an art gallery surrounded by 120 acres of beautiful grounds that connects art, nature and creativity.

The day will include a guided tour of the eclectic Folk Art Collection, looking at curious objects that represent our past, from enormous sheep to rainbow egg cosies, satirical paintings, and men’s embroidery. This gallery explores our heritage as makers and community members through our shared labours and sense of humour!

Curator Ila Colley will chat about Compton Verney’s participatory project Folk Exchange. Have your say in how the Folk Art gallery should encompass stories of LGBT+ life and creativity – from cooking to crochet, protest art, drag, TTRPGs! There will also be a chance to explore the six world-class collections galleries, temporary exhibitions, sculpture in the park, café and gift shop. Refreshments will be provided. Please let us know if you would need help with transport.
