Warwickshire’s LGBT+ History

The first record of a drag king in Warwickshire is when Emma Startin was employed at the Granby’s Head in Nuneaton. The Leamington Courier reported that Emma Startin was “in the habit of singing in male attire”. They were quite judgemental actually.

Drag kings performing in Warwickshire was common though, as you’ll see in the image.

Maybe we need some drag kings at Warwickshire Pride!
